Product Preview: Garmin Forerunner 201 GPS

Here you'll find all sorts of good running help and advice.

Today, there's nothing standing between you and your personal best. Forget running on marked trails or tracks. Forget daily logbook entries. Forerunner uses GPS to tell you how far, how fast - even how to get home. This totally integrated device is easy to use and requires no calibration. Stores two years of automatic lap histories so you can see how fast you ran last week, last month, last season. It even has a calorie-burner calculator that can help you stay on top of your weight-loss goals.

Forerunner gives you the freedom to blaze new trails without giving up your training schedule. Thanks to GPS satellites, Forerunner automatically calculates your speed, distance, and pace. The Auto Lap feature records your performance at preset distance intervals so you never have to punch the lap button. Auto Pause stops the training timer when you stop or slow down, such as at an intersection.

Because it's GPS based, Forerunner even has basic navigation capabilities that allow you to mark points and retrace your path back to your starting point.

For those times when you need motivation, Forerunner's Virtual partner features lets you train against time, distance, and pace goals that you select. Graphic icons show if you're ahead or falling behind on your goal. And if you're really serious about monitoring your performance, you can download training data from the Forerunner 201 to your PC using free software from the Garmin web site.
