Remember how I said barefoot running can help to reduce injury? Well, that’s true, but it’s not the full story. There are definitely some dangers to watch out for when running barefoot.
You actually open yourself up to quite a few new injuries.
Injuries from stepping on thorns and glass. Burns from hot pavement, deep scrapes, etc. And the worst part is, cuts on the bottom of your feet can get infected rather easily due to constant contact with germs on the ground. So a tiny cut could end up causing quite a bit of pain.
Plus, injuries from changing your running form too drastically. Like Achilles tendon injuries.
This should not happen if you start slow and ease into things, which will build up your foot strength, but it’s a possibility.
